Former Treasurer of the European Society for the History of Political Thought


I got my Ph.D in History of European Political Thought at the University of Perugia. I 2004 I was awarded a scholarship from the University Institute Suor Orsola Benincasa, Naples. From 2007 to 2009 I was Junior Lecturer of History of Political Thought at the University of Florence, and from 2009 to 2010 at the Fondazione Luigi Firpo in Turin. As for my teaching activity I have taught History of Political Thought, History of the EU, Italian Contemporary History for American College programmes in Florence such as Middlebury College, Smith College, Fashion Institute of Technology (2005-2014). As Visiting scholar I taught a course on “The Political economy of the Euro crisis” at the Middlebury College (Vermont, U.S.) in 2014.

I am currently Assistant Professor of History of Political Thought at the University of Turin. I am also member of the Italian Association of Historians of Political Thought (AISDP), member of the editorial board of “Il Pensiero politico”. My research interests include the history of European liberalism, democratic thought and in the history of liberal political thought within the late 19th century Habsburg Empire. I have analysed Hans Kelsen’, Georg Jellinek’s political theory and Austrian nationality question through Adolf Fischhof’ and Karl Renner’s work.
